REGENCY CAST IRON CONSOLE TABLES
Pair of scarce, cast iron console tables thought to be from the Regency period (1811 – 1820). During this time cast iron was used increasingly by furniture designers and architectural ornament manufacturers as the process enabled designers to include intricate detail without the costs associated with traditional blacksmithing. The cast iron elements that make up the bases are bolted together and have areas of surface rust commensurate with age. Both stone tops are a later addition.
